The REtWIRE Method

REtWIRE offers bespoke transformational coaching designed to help leaders rewire automatic thinking, beliefs, habits, and behavior patterns, fostering balance, purpose, and create new potential.
Rewiring is a metaphor drawn largely from neuroscience and behavioral psychology. It refers to changing the mental patterns, beliefs, habits, and emotional responses to drive leaders' behaviors so that they can lead more effectively and expand their potential with balance and purpose. From a neuroscience perspective, the concept comes from neuroplasticity - the brain’s ability to change through experience and repetition. From a behavioral psychology perspective, the concept focuses on the leader’s cognitive levels. Many leadership behaviors come from implicit values, beliefs and habits.
R - Recognize the current reality. Making the invisible visible. The first step is awareness. Most behavior is automatic and unconscious. We often do not realize the patterns driving our decisions. E - Examine the belief system. Challenge habitual wiring. Once the pattern is visible, and reality fully identified and acknowledged, the next step is exploring the thinking behind it. Behaviors usually stem from internal beliefs about control, value, competence or safety. T - Transformation. What is the goal, target, intention. Change careers, re-focus priorities, retirement? W - Widen new possibilities. Expand behavior choice. Create alternative ways of thinking and behaving. Instead of replacing one behavior with another immediately, the aim is to expand awareness and options. I - Install the new behavior(s). Turn insights into action. Rewiring only happens through practice and repetition. Helping clients experiment with new behaviors in real situations. R - Reinforce. Make the pattern stick. Rewiring occurs when new behaviors are reflected on and repeated. Reflection strengthens learning. Guide clients through constructive reflection techniques and provide them with the tools to record discovery and learning. E - Evaluate. What is the new way forward. Learning is a process and journey, in this phase focuses on taking an honest look where the client has landed. What is working, what is not? What needs to be tweaked.
